2023 Murbpook Waterbug BioBlitz

Recently a small group of Nature Foundation members participated in our Waterbug BioBlitz at Murbpook Nature Reserve, becoming citizen scientists and assisting with vital water quality monitoring that will enable us to measure conservation impact and plan further land and water management activities.

Welcoming Associate Professor Jeremy Austin to the Board

Nature Foundation is pleased to welcome Associate Professor Jeremy Austin to the Board as a Director in a casual vacancy following the recent retirement of Phil Barron.

Jeremy is a multidisciplinary evolutionary biologist who has worked across natural history museums (The Natural History Museum, London; Museum Victoria, Melbourne) and several Australian universities (University of Queensland, La Trobe University, University of Adelaide). His diverse research focuses primarily on vertebrates (humans, mammals, birds, reptiles), resulting in ground-breaking discoveries in vertebrate evolution that contribute to improved conservation outcomes for a range of threatened species.

ALCA's PLC23 Unite for Nature conference

Nature Foundation is a proud sponsor of the Australian Land Conservation Alliance’s annual conference - PLC23 Unite for Nature, being held on Ngunnawal country at the National Convention Centre in Canberra from 16-18 October 2023.

It’s a great opportunity to come together and progress the knowledge and capacity of the private land conservation sector, and those working to reverse nature loss.

Supporting the 2023 Nature Festival

Nature means the world to us. It's in our name. It's intrinsic to everything we do. So we are proud to be part of this year's Nature Festival, both as a Festival Partner and presenting two events.

Nature Festival is a two week celebration of our love of nature in South Australia, and from 1-15 October 2023, offers over three hundred events for all ages, full of creative ways to connect with nature and each other.

2023 Mike Bull Award winner: Stephen Zozaya

Stephen Zozaya (Australian National University) is the 2023 winner of the Mike Bull Award for Early Career Nature Scientists. Stephen does fantastic work with some rather overlooked species of skinks and has already made some great progress.
