In 2022, we established the Forever Nature Fund to tackle the ongoing loss of our precious habitats and ecosystems. To make our contribution to this vision, we have set ourselves the ambitious target to double our impact to 1 million hectares of protected land (about 1% of South Australia) by 2030—in support of Australia's commitment to protecting 30% of land and sea by 2030 by purchasing land with high biodiversity value to create more critical refuges for Australian wildlife.
In June 2024 we were fortunate to have a special property, Mongolurring, donated to us by a generous benefactor.
This 1,200-hectares of mallee woodland located east of Mount Bryan, South Australia, on Ngadjuri Country is home to a variety of native flora and fauna, with almost 200 native plant species recorded in the area, along with 16 reptile species and 64 bird species, including the Southern Whiteface (Aphelocephala leucopsis) and Diamond Firetail (Stagonopleura guttata), both listed as threatened under the national Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) act, and the South Australian listed White-winged Chough (Corcorax melanorhamphos).
Nature Foundation needs your help improve habitat conditions to restore and protect Mongolurring Nature Reserve. Initial assessments by our Science and Knowledge team have identified priority management tasks that will enable critical conservation benefits for the nature reserve.
You can donate to help enable key actions to restore and conserve nature on the reserve.
As a charity with deductible gift recipient (DGR) status, all donations are tax-deductible. We sincerely thank you for all the donations made to Nature Foundation. Each and every donation makes a big difference to nature here in South Australia. Together we can achieve the conservation outcomes our natural environment depends on.
