Restoration Ecology Forum 2014 participants at Mt Nor West Gorge, Witchelina Nature Reserve.

Nature Foundation fosters mutually beneficial relationships between industry and nature conservation in South Australia.

Working with the resources, energy and infrastructure sectors, Nature Foundation has been providing third party delivery of environmental offsets that meet Significant Environment Benefit (SEB) obligations since 2006.

Under the Native Vegetation Act 1991, a person who is clearing native vegetation is required to provide a Significant Environmental Benefit (SEB) offset. A third party SEB offset is where a third party such as Nature Foundation provides the SEB offset on behalf of the clearance proponent. Every time vegetation clearance is permitted, an offset obligation is incurred.

Nature Foundation holds an annual Restoration Ecology Forum for the resource sector alternating between Witchelina and Hiltaba Nature reserves. The forum offers the chance for resource industry ecologists to get involved first-hand with nature conservation science and learn more about our conservation approach and how SEB offset funding is utilised.

The Nature Foundation SEB Program is supported by the Native Vegetation Council, Arrium Mining, Beach Energy Limited, ElectraNet Pty Ltd, Epic Energy South Australia Pty Ltd, Heathgate Resources Pty. Ltd, KJM Contractors, Santos Limited, SEAGas Pty Ltd, Senex Energy Limited and WPG Resources.
